This 3-pattern pack includes the patterns for a huge hungry shark, a clownfish, and a blue tang. The FUN part is, the shark has a mouth pocket inside its body that can be filled with his fish friends! Gasp!
These easy-to-follow patterns include 1 PDF file each with detailed instructions, progress pictures, AND video tips explaining how to crochet and assemble all the parts to make this shark and his fish friends - a clownfish and blue tang (plus an additional mini fish, shrimp and squid that are included with the shark pattern).
These pattern can be made as written with any yarn weight, BUT TO ACHIEVE A SHARK BIG ENOUGH TO FIT THE CLOWNFISH AND BLUE TANG, YOU WILL NEED TO USE #7 JUMBO WEIGHT YARN FOR THE SHARK AND #4 MEDIUM WEIGHT YARN FOR THE FISH.
To make this pattern, you will need to know the following crochet stitches: chain, single crochet, and slip stitch. The increase and decrease stitches are also used, but are explained in the pattern.
Materials you will need:
SHARK
• Crochet hook size: H/5 mm
• #7 jumbo weight yarn: gray and red; see note below* for amounts needed
• #4 medium weight yarn: a few yards/meters of black and white (for the gills and eyes)
• Polyester fiber fill stuffing
• High quality white felt for the teeth
• Fabric glue for securing the teeth; I used Fabri-Tac glue
• Yarn needle, stitch marker and sharp scissors
*Note: This pattern can be made as written with any yarn weight.
With #7 jumbo weight yarn, you will need 180 yards/166 meters of gray and 70 yards/64 meters of red, plus 30 yards/27.5 meters of the following: yellow (for the mini fish), coral (for the shrimp), and blue (for the squid).
Also note: It is important that the yarn used for the mouth pocket is the same thickness as the yarn used for the shark’s body, so that the pocket fits inside the body.
Size:
When made with #7 jumbo weight yarn, the shark will be 27 inches/68.5 cm long. With #4 medium weight yarn, the shark will be 12 inches /30 cm long.
BLUE TANG
• Crochet hook size: 3.75mm
• Worsted weight yarn: Royal blue, black, yellow, and one strand of white
• Yarn needle
• 1 pair of 12 mm safety eyes
• Polyester fiber fill stuffing
• Black embroidery floss
Final measurement for the finished blue tang will be 4.75 inches (12 cm) long and 3.25 inches (8.25 cm) tall.
CLOWNFISH
• Crochet hook size: 3.75mm
• Worsted weight yarn: orange, black, and white
• Yarn needle
• 1 pair of 12 mm safety eyes
• Polyester fiber fill stuffing
• One strand of black embroidery floss for the smile
Final measurement for the finished clownfish will be 4.25 inches (10.75 cm) long and 2.75 inches (7 cm) tall.
