Create your own low-sew starfish in just an hour or 2! This easy-to-follow pattern includes 1 PDF file with detailed instructions, pictures, and video tips for crocheting this starfish. The listing photos show the starfish in plush or non-plush yarn; the pattern can be made as written with any yarn weight! The only sewing required is to sew closed the small gaps between the legs after they are crocheted on.
You will need to know the following stitches to make this starfish: chain, single crochet, increase, and sc decrease (the last 2 stitches are explained in the pattern).
Materials you will need:
• Crochet hook size: 3.75 mm with medium weight yarn; 5 mm hook with super bulky weight yarn
• #4 medium worsted weight yarn OR #6 super bulky weight yarn*: pink, plus 1 strand of white for spots (or other contrasting color) and 1 strand of black for the smile
• 12 mm safety eyes with medium weight yarn; 18 mm safety eyes with super bulky weight yarn (see note 1)
• Polyester fiber fill stuffing
• Yarn needle
• Sharp scissors, stitch marker
*This pattern can be made as written with any yarn weight.
Exact size will depend on the yarn/hook that you use. A starfish made with medium weight yarn and a 3.75 mm hook will be approximately 6 in/15.25 cm tall. A starfish made with #6 super bulky weight yarn and a 5 mm hook will be approximately 7.5 in/19 cm tall.
